ISLAMABAD: Monitoring and evaluation system (MES) is an important management tool to track progress and it facilitates in decision making as well as establishes links between past, present and future actions.
The purpose of MES in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is to track implementation and outputs systematically, and measure effectiveness of programmes which help determine exactly when a programme is on track and when changes may be needed, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said on Thursday.
He was chairing a meeting held here at NAB Headquarters to review latest progress on MES, where the officials concerned gave a presentation regarding the latest progress on working of the system in NAB and its efficacy in future.
An official said MES forms basis for modification of interventions and assessing quality of activities being conducted, adding that the system has been developed to cater the needs of all concerned.
The chairman said MES can be used to demonstrate that programme efforts had a measurable impact on expected outcomes, adding that the system helps with identifying the most valuable and efficient use of resources.
The MES provides necessary data to guide strategic planning and helps improving performance and achieving results to improve current and future management of outputs, outcomes and impact, he said.
Chairman Chaudhry directed all departments concerned for further coordination and decisions taken should be implemented in letter and spirit in order to further improvement in institutionalizing the support and supervision at different levels of management in NAB.
