LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed distrust over “electable personalities in politics” on which many parties are banking their win in next general election. In a meeting with party leaders from Faisalabad here on Tuesday, the PPP chairman showed his enthusiasm to contest next general election on ideological grounds. Bilawal said that the PPP had never relied upon electable personalities in the past and won’t do it in future. He said that his real power was workers and he would contest next elections with their support only. He also advised workers that they should not worry about deserting of electable politicians from the party. “Unlike other parties which are running behind electable politicians to lure them in to win the next general election, the PPP’s real strength was its workers,” he said. About the party’s organisations and local leadership, Bilawal made it clear that all leaders would be bound to obey the organisations’ decisions and added that party organisations would be also fully empowered to make decisions. On the occasion, Sarmad Hussain Rahi, son of PPP’s veteran leader Fazal Hussain Rahi, announced to join the PPP and reposed full confidence in the PPP’s leadership.
