ISLAMABAD: A five-member larger bench will resume the hearing of Panama Leaks case today (Tuesday) on the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other parties.
The hearing would continue under the supervision of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali. This would be the eighth hearing on Panama Leaks case.
After the excuse of senior advocate Hamid Khan, there has been a change in the legal team and Naeem Bukhari would lead the case for PTI. It is pertinent to mention that Hamid Khan excused himself from the case, due to ‘media pressure’.
In the last hearing, Supreme Court directed PTI to submit complete details about the businesses owned by the Sharif family as court cannot give any judgement based on political statements or on the basis of media reports.
The judges told to PTI legal team that only concrete evidence can prove the link of Sharif family with offshore companies. “We cannot review political statements and if a verdict was announced on the basis of news reports then your client may also have to face difficulty,” the judges said.
On the other side, up till now PM Nawaz and his children; Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz have submitted their official response on offshore companies and their properties in London.
