ISLAMABAD: United States (US) has said that the Trump administration will try to ‘de-escalate’ tensions between India and Pakistan.
It was stated by US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley at a press conference in New York. She said that Trump’s administration is concerned about the relationship between India and Pakistan and deos not want any sort of conflict between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has said that its military observer group has been mandated to monitor the ceasefire violations in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region.
In a statement, UN Secretary-General’s Spokesman Stephne Dujarric said that that UN has been voicing concerns over the continuing tensions between India and Pakistan. He underlined the need for a peaceful and negotiated solution of Kashmir dispute.
