A Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) patient died in a private hospital of Karachi, increasing the death toll from the tick-born viral disease to 17 in the city this year. The Sindh Health Department confirmed the death of a 52-year old man, Habib Khan, a resident of Lyari, who died in a private hospital due to the Congo viral fever. The patient was brought to the hospital a few days ago with a fever, where he was diagnosed as a Congo patient. The tick-born viral disease has infected 36 people this year so far, out of which 17 have died. Currently, a 62 year old man Muhammad Dad is under treatment in a private hospital. Congo fever is a fatal viral disease that spreads through the bite of a tick, which is a parasite that lives in the blood of animals. The Congo virus is mainly contracted by people who deal with cattle and livestock. The symptoms of Congo virus include backache, pain in the joints and abdomen, high grade fever and bleeding from any part of the body.
