The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA and televangelist Aamir Liaquat would be indicted in a contempt cases on September 27.
The decision came after a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar rejected the unconditional apology submitted by Liaquat.
Last month, the court had issued a contempt notice Liaquat for allegedly using abusive and derogatory language against the media and others.
As the hearing went underway, a number of clips of Liaquat’s televsion programmes were also played in the courtroom. Justice Nisar remarked that contemnors would not be spared. The hearing was then adjourned until September 27.
