The online registration of overseas Pakistanis for the upcoming by-polls commenced on Saturday, and will continue till September 15.
By-polls will be held on 11 National Assembly and 26 provincial assembly seats on October 14. The ECP has launched a website for i-voting, through which overseas Pakistanis can cast their votes online. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will facilitate the voters through its online system. NADRA has also issued a video for guiding overseas voters about the registration process. Overseas Pakistanis possessing valid machine-readable passports can get them registered as voters within the stipulated time. After the due date, voter lists will be handed over to the returning officers concerned and names of overseas voters will be scored out. These voters will not be able to cast their votes manually in Pakistan. Over 700,000 overseas Pakistanis will be able to get their vote registered through the newly developed system.
