LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayaz-ul Hasan Chohan, in a television interview, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s helicopter commute costs 400 rupees.
He stated this amount while explaining his calculation on-air in relation to the price of a gallon of fuel. In the wake of federal minister Fawad Chaudhry claiming that PM Khan’s helicopter commute costs 50-55 rupees per kilometer, many politicians and pundits have chimed in.
The statement has also drawn massive flak from social media users, who have been sharing memes to mock the claim.
In his interview, the minister had said PM Khan’s commute via helicopter did not cost much. He said helicopter was not very expensive if not hired on rent.
“It is preferable to travel via a helicopter instead of cavalcade on roads that cause hardships to people,” Chaudhry had said, adding that “four helicopters were already at the PM’s House, which is a prerogative of any prime minister”.
Punjab information minister Fayaz-ul Hasan Chohan has also drawn criticism after a contentious speech where he ordered a province-wide ban on ‘vulgar’ and ‘indecent’ film posters displayed inside and outside cinema houses.
